The Scripps Ranch Falcons will take on the Otay Ranch Mustangs in a tournament on Wednesday. Scripps Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Scripps Ranch will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Steele Canyon, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Falcons walked away with a 9-6 win over the Cougars on Monday.

Kamden Cha tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Scripps Ranch let Tyler Gloff and Cooper Sitton run wild. Gloff got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Sitton went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Scripps Ranch is undefeated when Sitton posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Nathan Yu was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Scripps Ranch lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Otay Ranch came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Chieftains by a score of 6-3. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly three runs.
The team relied heavily on Donovan De Los Santos, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Efrain Santos III, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Otay Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Scripps Ranch, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Scripps Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against Otay Ranch in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
