After a string of six wins, the Buena Park Coyotes's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Etiwanda on the road and fell 82-42. Buena Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-16.
Buena Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gloria Barrera, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Barrera is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Barnes, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Buena Park's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-9. As for Etiwanda, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.
Buena Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Etiwanda will stay at home for another game and welcome the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
