The Shadow Hills Knights posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They skirted past Xavier Prep 56-54. Given Shadow Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Xavier Prep is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shadow Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Victoria Hyatt, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Hyatt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Skylah Archer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Xavier Prep still got an impressive performance from Amoree Ferrel, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferrel has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosalee Gutierrez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Shadow Hills and bumps their season record up to 15-3. As for Xavier Prep, their loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-5.
Shadow Hills will head out on the road to take on Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palm Desert is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Xavier Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palm Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
