Baseball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Wasco Tigers

The Shafter Generals will venture away from home to square off against the Wasco Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wasco will be up against a hot Shafter team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Generals never let Delano get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Thursday.

Alex Casanova-Balderrama was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Nini Garcia was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Joaquin Garza was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Chavez typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Wasco proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Titans. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Wasco is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Shafter, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Shafter couldn't quite finish off Wasco in their previous meeting back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
