After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yucaipa, University was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Portola Bulldogs. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Micah Von Dem Bussche looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, University's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Collins, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Tori Stevenson was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
University hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portola struck out seven times.
