Even though the Samuell Spartans scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, the Adams Cougars still came out on top. Adams escaped with a win against the Spartans by the margin of a single free throw, 65-64. The win was all the more spectacular given Adams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 815th, while the Spartans are ranked 376th).
Terell Toomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Altrie Farris, who scored 12 points.
Adams' win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-17. As for Samuell, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.
Adams will head out on the road to challenge the Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Micah Vaughn and Keiontay Marsh. As for Samuell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Timberwolves at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Spruce comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
