The Sonoma Academy Coyotes will take on the Branson Bulls at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sonoma Academy has six straight wins, Branson has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Branson's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Sonoma Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Coyotes never let Richmond get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Coyotes have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Victor Jennings was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Proctor, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Sonoma Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Charlie Mutz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Branson came up short against Tamalpais last Friday, falling 10-1.
Branson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Weinberg, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Sonoma Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Branson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Branson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sonoma Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. It's a different story for Branson, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain Sonoma Academy's hitters?
Sonoma Academy suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Branson in their previous matchup back in May of 2015. Will the Coyotes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
