The Redwood Rangers will be playing in front of their home fans against the El Diamante Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Redwood posted their biggest victory since December 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Mt. Whitney at home to the tune of 55-23. Given Redwood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Mt. Whitney is ranked 848th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redwood used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Jordan Powell,
Aryel Chavez, and
Brooklyn Tayo posted two points each.
Meanwhile, El Diamante can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Golden West, posting a 72-36 victory at home. The win was just what El Diamante needed coming off of a 70-32 loss in their prior game.
The win makes it two in a row for Redwood and bumps their season record up to 12-10. As for El Diamante, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.
Redwood suffered a grim 74-48 defeat to El Diamante when the teams last played on January 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of El Diamante's Neveah Creason, who scored 17 points. Now that Redwood knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
