Baseball Recap: North Monterey County Takes a Loss

North Monterey County lost against Monte Vista Christian last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Condors fell 8-4 to the Mustangs. The Condors just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Jered Kallenberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greg Jimenez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Nelsen, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

North Monterey County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Monte Vista Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

North Monterey County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Gonzales on the 12th. As for Monte Vista Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Del Mar at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
