If the San Juan Hills Stallions were feeling good off their 62-41 takedown of the Bonita Bearcats last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. San Juan Hills fell just short of Portola by a score of 61-59. While losing is never fun, San Juan Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Portola is ranked 26th).
Despite the loss, San Juan Hills still got an impressive performance from Aryanna Hudson, who scored 26 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Sydney Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
San Juan Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Portola, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
San Juan Hills will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Downey at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Portola's road trip will continue as they head out to face California at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th.
