The Elsinore Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Elsinore scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Linfield Christian with a sharp 67-46 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Elsinore as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Elsinore relied on the efforts of Miranda Garcia, who scored 17 points, and Ashirah Washington-Williams, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Washington-Williams has scored at least 25% of Elsinore's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iree Mativa, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by La Quinta on the road to the tune of 63-35. With Redlands East Valley ahead 38-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Elsinore now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Redlands East Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Elsinore, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-30 loss to Redlands East Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Elsinore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
