Baseball Recap: Crete Has No Trouble Against Holdrege

Crete had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 12-10 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Holdrege Dusters. Considering the Cardinals have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Crete saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Wendt, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Wendt a new career-high. Another was Brooks Piening, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crete kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Holdrege, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

On Holdrege's side, Barrett Schroeder was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Sam Sertich also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
