The Don Lugo Conquistadores's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 36-21 to Ayala. Don Lugo has not had much luck with Ayala recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Don Lugo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Julia Palomares, who scored seven points, and Belen Perez who scored two points along with six rebounds. Palomares continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Don Lugo struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Don Lugo has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Ayala, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Don Lugo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Baldwin Park at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Ayala and Colony will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
