Basketball Recap: Centennial Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Centennial extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 13-1. They put the hurt on the Orcutt Academy Spartans with a sharp 64-41 win. The Golden Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Shekinah (Kai) Shaw produced another solid performance almost dropping a triple-double with nine points, 13 assists, and ten blocks. Those ten blocks gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Giada Dibble, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 15 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orcutt Academy only racked up eight.

As for Orcutt Academy, they moved to 10-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Centennial is ranked 35th).

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lizzie Krausse, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Krausse is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Edwards, who put up ten points.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-28 victory against Santa Ynez on the 2nd. As for Orcutt Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-34 win against Roosevelt on the 3rd.
