After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sanger West, the Minarets Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 29-17 victory over Laton. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Minarets also won the last time the pair played last Monday.
Gabriella Alvarado and Evelyn Buttle certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Alvarado scored three points along with nine rebounds and six steals, while Buttle scored four points. Alvarado set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
Minarets' victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Laton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Minarets will be home for the holidays to greet McLane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McLane is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Laton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shandon at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
