The Union Wildcats will face off against the Silex Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Union is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Warrenton on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Chloe Richardson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Millie Koenigsfeld was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Evie Poggas, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Silex won against Monroe City on Monday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Owls' pitchers stepped up to hand Wellsville-Middletown a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Austyn Van Horn was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kherrington Morris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Silex hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Silex is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Union, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Union skirted past Silex 7-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
