Baseball Recap: Glenn Takes a Loss

Glenn made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2022.

Raymond Acosta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Glenn: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-13 otherwise. Matthew Vazquez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Glenn is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 7-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenn will host Artesia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against St. Genevieve at 3:15 p.m. The Warriors are facing the Valiants at the right time seeing as the Valiants are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
