It was a good run, but the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sutherland. Rush-Henrietta was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sutherland apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Royal Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jalen Taggart, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Taggart's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myles Collins-Howard, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Rush-Henrietta were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Rush-Henrietta's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. As for Sutherland, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Rush-Henrietta will head out on the road to face off against Penfield at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Penfield and Rush-Henrietta are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Sutherland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brockport at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brockport has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
