The Maxwell Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wallace. Maxwell has struggled against Wallace recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Maxwell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kristyn Cheek, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Cheek, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Maxwell struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Wallace had a senior duo take command as Kendyl Flaming scored 12 points along with two steals and Reagan Pelster scored nine points. Devin Giesselmann was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Maxwell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Wallace, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Maxwell will head out on the road to square off against Sutherland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Maxwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Wallace, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Wallace: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Southwest has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
