Leigh and Christopher are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Longhorns will welcome the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Leigh 3.3, Christopher 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Leigh beats Christopher with 12 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Longhorns blew past Santa Teresa 12-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Aiden Phillips and Brandon Kim did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Kim went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Kim has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Justin Jeong, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Leigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Teresa only posted an OBP of .344.
Willow Glen hit Christopher with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4. The Cougars have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Sam Guenther made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Leigh and bumps their season record up to 18-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Christopher, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Christopher's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leigh hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. It's a different story for Christopher, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Leigh's hitters?
