Even though the Millersburg Indians have not done well against the Greenwood Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Millersburg narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Greenwood 36-34. The win was familiar territory for Millersburg who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Emma Miller, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds and seven blocks. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jana Strait, who scored eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Greenwood saw an underclassman step up: Sylvia Gantt scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Jezewski, who scored four points along with three steals.
Millersburg's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Greenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Millersburg will be playing in front of their home fans against East Juniata at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Juniata will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 561st, while Millersburg is ranked 224th). As for Greenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Upper Dauphin Area at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Upper Dauphin Area and Greenwood are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
