The Morro Bay Pirates will take on the Nipomo Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Morro Bay's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
Morro Bay lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Golden Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. Morro Bay's pitchers stepped up to hand Golden Valley a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Evan Davis looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Morro Bay let Quentin Crotts and Joseph Skaggs run wild. Crotts went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Skaggs scored three runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Crotts has posted since back in April of 2024. Jack Deovlet was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Morro Bay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Nipomo won against Immanuel on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Nipomo skirted past Santa Ynez 7-6. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Logan Hobbs was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Hobbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Griffin Groshart, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aden Willis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Morro Bay pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Nipomo, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Morro Bay's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. Morro Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Nipomo, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Morro Bay continue to outrun the ball?
Morro Bay skirted past Nipomo 4-3 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Morro Bay have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nipomo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
