The Apple Valley Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 45-18 defeat at the hands of Lucerne Valley. Apple Valley Christian found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 15 fewer assists than your opponent.
Jocelynn LoPorto and Mandy Hall certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. LoPorto scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Hall scored six points. That was a full 44.4% of Apple Valley Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lucerne Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Evans out in front who scored eight points along with six assists and six steals. Evans hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games. Arelyn Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Apple Valley Christian dropped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Lucerne Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley Christian will take on the Trojans at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Silver Valley is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
