The Pacific Bay Christian Eagles were the 34-27 winner over The Nueva School Mavericks when they last played one another on January 4th, but their luck changed this time around. Pacific Bay Christian fell to The Nueva School 35-31. Pacific Bay Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pacific Bay Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savanna Munds, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Cheng, who scored 12 points.
The Nueva School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Siana Kapoor led the charge by scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Kapoor is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Amrutha Rao was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Pacific Bay Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for The Nueva School, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Pacific Bay Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Summit Shasta at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Summit Shasta is on a three-game streak of home wins, Pacific Bay Christian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. The Nueva School will take on San Francisco Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. San Francisco Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
