It was a good run, but the Surry Central Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to North Surry on the road by a decisive 65-50 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Surry Central in their matchups with North Surry: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Surry Central still got an impressive performance from Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Evan Wall was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
North Surry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kam Mcknight, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Mcknight is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Fisher Leftwich, who scored 17 points along with three blocks.
Surry Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for North Surry, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on East Surry at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Surry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Surry Central is ranked 160th). As for North Surry, they will head out on the road to challenge North Wilkes at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
