The Smethport Hubbers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oswayo Valley. While losing is never fun, Smethport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while Oswayo Valley is ranked 189th).
Several Hubbers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Neff, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Hungiville, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Smethport bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Oswayo Valley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Smethport will head out on the road to face off against Cameron County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cameron County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. Oswayo Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Coudersport at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
