The Daniel Lions had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over Blue Ridge on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Daniel, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Daniel found their leader in underclassman Will Swann, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists. Hayden Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Several Fighting Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nash Somero, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Nicklaus Poole, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Daniel's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Blue Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daniel will take on James F. Byrnes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully James F. Byrnes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Landrum at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Landrum focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday.
