Shenandoah Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against Marian Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Shenandoah Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-37 to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional.
Meanwhile, Marian Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their 16-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Williams Valley. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Marian Catholic came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Williams Valley is ranked 285th).
Despite the loss, Marian Catholic had strong showings from Addison Fritz, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Carly Minchhoff, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Fritz hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Shenandoah Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Marian Catholic, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2.
Shenandoah Valley took a serious blow against Marian Catholic in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 50-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Marian Catholic's Frankie Martinelli, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
