Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Greyhounds vs. Eastern Warriors

Manchester is 2-7 against Eastern since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Greyhounds will be taking part in a tournament against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Manchester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Manchester is returning to their home field after beating Notre Dame on theirs, despite the fact Notre Dame has dominated at home this season. The Greyhounds came out on top against the Titans by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Greyhounds.

Luke Applegate was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clayton Colvin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucas Rigdon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eastern lost 13-3 to Blanchester on Friday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Manchester got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Eastern by a conclusive 16-5 score. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
