The Leland Chargers will challenge the Piedmont Hills Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Leland and Branham, and Leland kept the tradition alive. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Bruins on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Caden Canter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Leland: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joshua Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.
Alex Tran was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gomez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Piedmont Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Leland, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.
Everything went Leland's way against Piedmont Hills in their previous matchup back in February, as Leland made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
