Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Cornerstone Christian won against Santa Rosa Academy last Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Cornerstone Christian didn't even let the Packinghouse Christian Academy Bears on the board, marking Cornerstone Christian's second-straight 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jayden Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cornerstone Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Soto was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jonus Lance was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Alec O'Sullivan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Cornerstone Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cornerstone Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Packinghouse Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will face off against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Packinghouse Christian Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Calvary Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
