It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pomona had no problem doing just that  on Thursday. They were the clear victors by  a  19-3 margin over the Crossroads Christian Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won nine matchups by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Vince Huguez tossed a big game,   striking out eight batters over  6.1 innings while giving up  three earned runs off   six  hits (and only one walk). That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in March.
 At the plate,  Leo Luna was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four  RBI, one  stolen base,  and one  run. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emmanuel Campos, who  went 2-for-4 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Pomona  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .587. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Pomona is  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
 Looking ahead, Pomona will face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration at 3:15  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Eagle will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. Crossroads Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
