St. Marys has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Wirt County has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
St. Marys took a 27-point loss the last time they faced off against Tyler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Knights 21-18. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Marys' defense and their three sacks. Gregory Jemison was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Wirt County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 victory over Tolsia on Friday.
St. Marys better keep an eye on Tyler Smith. He was instrumental in Wirt County's win, throwing for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Smith has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Wirt County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Andrew Lemley.
St. Marys' win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Wirt County, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. St. Marys has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wirt County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 181 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
St. Marys was dealt a bruising 42-7 defeat at the hands of Wirt County in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Blue Devils were down 30-0.
