Baseball Recap: Mare Island Tech Academy Gets the Win

While Mare Island Tech Academy's win against Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Griffins narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Grizzlies 9-7. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Wyatt Fields was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Fields was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josue Jarquin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.

Mare Island Tech Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-4.

Coincidentally, Mare Island Tech Academy and Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy will both be playing Oakland Unity the next time they take the field. The Griffins will head out to face Oakland Unity at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Grizzlies will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
