The California Grizzlies waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 51-32 victory over Foothill. Given California's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Foothill is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
California was led to victory by Taylor Lim and Trinity Chu. Lim scored nine points along with five blocks, while Chu scored 18 points along with three steals. Chu has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anika Maral, who scored eight points.
California pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Foothill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California will square off against Livermore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Livermore has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to take on Carondelet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carondelet has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 347 points over their last five games.
