The Pierce Bears lost against the Durham Trojans back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Pierce fell to Durham 48-44.
Despite the loss, Pierce saw an underclassman step up: Magali Jauregui scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Letzy Ambriz, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Durham found their leader in underclassman Payton Santos, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Santos has scored all season.
Pierce has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Durham, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Pierce will head out on the road to take on East Nicolaus at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Nicolaus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday. As for Durham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Paradise at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
