Softball Recap: Millard North Wins High-Profile Game Against Westview

Millard North faced Westview in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 15-5 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Millard North let Abby Beard and Mallory Closman run wild. Beard went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Closman went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Closman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Jarose, who earned three runs and one stolen base.

Millard North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted an OBP of .409.

Millard North is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Westview, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Coming up, Millard North will be taking part in a tournament against Papillion-LaVista at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Monarchs have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Westview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Auburn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
