Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Ryder Gordon and Isayah Barranca Leads Cimarron over Southwestern Heights

If Southwestern Heights wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cimarron, they should've done a better job of containing Isayah Barranca. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 40-14 victory on Friday for which the team can thank Barranca, who picked up 230 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Cimarron is undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

Cimarron didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryder Gordon and Barranca.

Although Southwestern Heights took the loss, they still got scores from Eilian Baeza and Jackson Stanfield.

Cimarron now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Southwestern Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Cimarron didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-22 loss against Hoisington on the 24th. As for Southwestern Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 55-14 defeat against Holcomb on the 24th.
