The Granada Hills Charter Highlanders were the 45-37 winner over the Notre Dame (SO) Knights when they last played one another back in May of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Granada Hills Charter fell 43-33 to Notre Dame (SO) on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Granada Hills Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while Notre Dame (SO) is ranked 90th).
Defeat or not, Granada Hills Charter got some senior leadership from Natalie Melendez who scored 9 points along with 4 steals and Karma Paez who scored 9 points. Melendez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Granada Hills Charter has fallen quite a ways from their 26-6 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Notre Dame (SO), their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Granada Hills Charter will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Eagle Rock at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Hopefully Eagle Rock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday. Notre Dame (SO) will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chaminade at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
