Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for North Surry

North Surry entered their tilt with North Wilkes on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the North Wilkes Vikings as they made off with a 55-33 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Greyhounds have posted against the Vikings since December 2, 2022.

North Surry was led to victory by Kam McKnight and Fisher Leftwich. McKnight went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points and three steals, while Leftwich almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. McKnight's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Williams, who posted seven points.

North Surry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 15 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.3.

North Surry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for North Wilkes, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Surry will venture away from home to challenge Wilkes Central at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Wilkes Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Wilkes, they will head out to take on East Surry at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. East Surry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully North Wilkes likes a good challenge.
