Baseball Game Preview: Winters Warriors vs. Colusa RedHawks

Winters and Colusa are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Warriors will look to defend their home field on Monday against the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. The contest will give Winters their first taste of in-conference action this season.

Vacaville Christian hit Winters with a five-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-6. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Winters saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Baylor, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The Warriors are 2-1 when Baylor posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. Cole Jordling also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Colusa lost 21-2 to Durham on Friday. The RedHawks haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Winters' defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Colusa, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Winters has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colusa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Winters came out on top in a nail-biter against Colusa when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the RedHawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
