High school football rankings: Chaminade-Madonna joins MaxPreps Top 25 after win over St. Thomas Aquinas

Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) was the only new team to join this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings after beating St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 29-22. The Lions check in at No. 17 and have won six in a row after an 0-2 start.

Five-star junior athlete Derrek Cooper led a rushing attack that finished with 315 yards on the ground. He finished with over 150 yards rushing and two scores. Camari Hall scored the go-ahead touchdown with 6:35 left and the defense finished the job to preserve the win.

The loss dropped Aquinas 12 spots to No. 21.

No. 4 Duncanville (Texas) added another big win to its resume with a 42-20 victory over DeSoto (Texas). Alabama commit Keelon Russell completed 27 of 36 passes for 427 yards and six touchdowns. His favorite target was LSU-bound wide receiver Dakorien Moore, who finished with nine receptions for 231 yards and four scores. The Panthers improved to 5-0 and host Lancaster (Texas) on Friday.

The loss dropped DeSoto eight spots to No. 25.

No. 3 Milton (Ga.) used a strong second half to pull away from a good Gainesville (Ga.) squad for a 42-24 win to improve to 8-0. It was the 18th consecutive win for the defending AAAAAAA state champs. Four-star Miami commit Luke Nickel threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns. Senior running back T.J. Lester added 139 yards on the ground and three scores.

No. 11 Archbishop Spalding (Severn, Md.) has been one of the most dominant teams in the country. After two impressive wins over Archbishop Hoban (Akron, Ohio) and No. 24 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) to start the season, they have outscored their last six opponents 277-0.
