The Magnolia Sentinels will head out on the road to square off against the Western Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Magnolia suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 70-50 loss at the hands of Anaheim. While losing is never fun, Magnolia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Anaheim is ranked 95th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Elysia Dellia, who scored 15 points. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Teresa Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Western took a serious blow against Savanna on Tuesday, falling 67-23. Western has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Magnolia bumped their record down to 12-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Magnolia couldn't quite finish off Western in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 and fell 48-45. Can Magnolia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
