The Lompoc Braves will challenge the Arroyo Grande Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Lompoc turned things around against Righetti on Friday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jack Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lompoc saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasch Kubasiewicz, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Arroyo Grande, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over San Luis Obispo on Monday. The Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th (when they won 11-1).
Arroyo Grande also got a great performance from Grady Pope as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Pope a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Ruben Servin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Beau Sweeney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Arroyo Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lompoc's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Arroyo Grande, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14-1.
