The Mills Vikings will challenge the Design Tech Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Mills is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over El Camino on Thursday.
Jeremiah Reyes and Nick Lafon did most of the damage at the plate: Reyes went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Lafon went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Lafon has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matt Juul, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.
Mills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Design Tech made sure to put some runs up on the board against Summit Shasta on Friday. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Black Bears. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aidan Tom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Tom was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Design Tech: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Maddox Hom was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Isaac Gradek was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Design Tech pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Mills came out on top in a nail-biter against Design Tech in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
