Football Recap: Rj Montoya's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hope Christian over Manzano

Hope Christian lost against Manzano back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The contest between the Huskies and the Monarchs didn't end well, with the Huskies falling 29-14. The loss was the Huskies' first of the season.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rj Montoya, who threw for 86 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards. Noah Carter helped out on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

Manzano got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bodi True out in front who threw for 203 yards and a pair of TDs on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 48 yards and one score. Those 48 rushing yards gave True a new career-high. Manzano's leading receiver Broden Price was True's top target yet again, picking up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 50 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hope Christian fell to 3-1. As for Manzano, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Hope Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-34 victory against Estancia on the 20th. As for Manzano, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 40-14 win against Portales on the 19th.
