The Hesston Swathers are taking a road trip to square off against the Riley County Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hesston has four straight wins, Riley County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hesston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 66-34 victory over Trinity Academy. The result was nothing new for the Swathers, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Those 200 rushing yards gave Wilson a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Jerick Humphreys, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hesston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 18 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wilson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Riley County suffered their biggest loss since October 18, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 42-8 defeat at the hands of Silver Lake. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Falcons' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Hesston's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Riley County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Hesston against Riley County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Swathers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
