Rome has gone 8-2 against Paulding County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Rome Wolves will head out to face off against the Paulding County Patriots at 5:55 p.m. Paulding County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Rome, who comes in off a win.
Rome took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over Gordon Central. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Bryce Patty made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. He also got two hits, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jackson Slatky was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Rome: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. James Matheny also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Rome was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Paulding County didn't have quite enough to beat Bremen on Thursday and fell 9-8. The Patriots have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Liam Garrett was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Hudson McEntyre was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Rome's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Paulding County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Rome came up short against Paulding County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 10-5. Can Rome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
