The Lower Lake Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 53-41 to Cloverdale. Lower Lake has struggled against Cloverdale recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Lower Lake's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tiahna Tubbs, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Tubbs is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Theodorou, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lower Lake were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale only pulled down seven.
Cloverdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amara Galvan, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Galvan has scored at least 25% of Cloverdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylie Hatcher, who scored 14 points.
Lower Lake now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Cloverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Lower Lake will take on Ygnacio Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ygnacio Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lower Lake in California (Ygnacio Valley is ranked 118th, while Lower Lake is ranked 642nd). As for Cloverdale, they will face off against Clear Lake at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Clear Lake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
