The Dunsmuir Tigers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 41-34 to Burney on Tuesday. Dunsmuir lost against Burney in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 32-19 score last time.
Dunsmuir's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cyla Clemens, who scored 13 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Abby Powell, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Mia Perez was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 8 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. Natalia Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Dunsmuir's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Burney, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunsmuir will challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on December 6th. As for Burney, they will head out on the road to face off against Butte Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
